SMC Premier Group is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2045, this includes scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon emissions as defined in PPN 6/21 and associated published government documents.

Carbon Reduction Initiatives
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have identified the following carbon projects which will need to be investigated to provide workable solutions for our colleagues as well as reduce our carbon footprint.
Preceding this report, we have already taken the following actions to reduce our carbon emissions: –
- Sourced renewable electricity and gas
- All our general office waste is either recycled or is incinerated for power generation
- Initially to source all of our staffing requirements using local labour within the communities that we work
- Certification to ISO14001 – Environmental Management System
- Installed LED lighting and PIR sensors to our head office expansion project to reduce energy consumption.
- We trialled electric vans for the mobile fleet – at that time the infrastructure didn’t support viability of this
As part of our commitment we will maintain the following actions: –
- Continue to try to recruit locally in the first instance for all new contracts
- Maintain ISO 14001 certification
- Continue our current waste disposal practices
- Maintain our renewable energy
We have also identified the following initiatives which are planned for investigation.
- Trial of electric vehicles for the company car
- Identify car sharing opportunities
- Cycle to work scheme
- Walk to work scheme
- Remote Working/ more virtual meetings
Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
